The Department of Economics and Management at Gustavus has a wide variety of clubs and student organizations that further advance educational opportunities on campus. One of these student led organizations is the Finance Club. I talked with Jill Shoen ‘22, the current president of the Finance Club, to take a deeper look into the organization.
What is the Finance Club?
The Gustavus Finance Club was formed as a non-profit organization to promote financial wellbeing on campus and assist Gustavus students to achieve their financial goals. The mission of the club is to enhance student learning and engagement in finance, in addition to assisting them in career development and opportunities within the scope of finance.
What does the Finance Club do?
The Club meetings focus on brainstorming and planning events for club members and Gustavus students. They host a variety of activities and events throughout the year, such as FTS personal finance presentations and Finance Club Trivia Night to promote financial literacy on campus.
Additionally, they offer many networking and career exploration opportunities through
- Career panels
- Company visits
- Alumni
- Guest speakers
- Annual spring banquet
How will the Finance Club advance your career?
The Gustavus Finance Club is a great way to get involved on campus and explore future careers within the world of finance. The organization has built a strong network of Gustavus alumni, and they strive to provide resources for members to succeed in their finance careers after graduation.
Join!
The Gustavus Finance Club requires a written application and interview to join. They will be accepting applications in February at the start of spring semester. In the meantime, interested students are encouraged to attend future GFC events. For more information, students may contact any current club members or Sheng Yang, the club advisor, at syang10@gustavus.edu.
