Making their lives count– Tunheims in El Salvador on a Habitat build Posted on March 26th, 2014 by

Just got Kathi’s first update and message since her arrival in San Salvador this weekend for a Thrivent/Trinity Lutheran Church Habitat build. You can find a blog here and read about other participants from Trinity (Long Lake).

Here is what Kathi wrote:

We arrived in San Salvador at 12:30 on Sunday . We were surprised to get to meet David , the 12 year old boy that our family has been praying for and sponsoring his education for two years now. He and his mother had traveled two hours by bus to meet us. His mother and I both cried when we finally got to meet face to face. We have worked for two days now at a Habitat for Humanity home building site in 100 degree heat hauling sand to make cement, cutting wire and moving dirt and rocks. It is a thrill to work alongside the El Salvadorian family that will live there as well as my fellow Trinity Lutheran Church members from the Long Lake/Orono area.

Kathi is there with husband Bob and daughter Kristie.

I pulled this picture off the Trinity site– so great to see the Tunheims in community, making such a critical difference.
