Meeting the LifeWorks staff in Mankato and hearing about their jobs!

The Conflict Management course students heard today how LifeWorks staff helps their clients and families be successful in wage-paying jobs, giving people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to work. It was amazing. I know people who work in human services have complex and demanding jobs— the number of people and the variety of stakeholders with whom LifeWorks staff interact is mind-boggling! Thanks to Kath Pengelly and Connie Giles and the rest of the Mankato staff for welcoming the Gustie students and sharing what their jobs are like. We’ll be tailoring some conflict resolution tools and skills to share back with LifeWorks based on their particular needs and conflict scenarios. Students also got to interview, one-on-one, members of LifeWorks staff in Mankato as well as Eagan, to get a closer look at their day-to-day jobs. Such an energizing visit!
