Kristian Braekkan presents paper at ASSA conference Posted on January 22nd, 2012 by

Assistant Professor of Management Kristian Braekkan presented his paper “From Breach to Violation: An Examination of the Moderating Role of Union Instrumentality upon Perceptions of Psychological Contract Breach and Violations” at the ASSA (Allied Social Science Associations) meetings in Chicago on January 6-8, 2012. The paper, which is co-authored by Gustavus alumni Rebecca Krocak (International Management ’11) suggests that when employees perceive their union to be instrumental in improving their work-day and employment relationship they are less likely to experience an emotional response or feeling of injury (violation) that results from the organization’s failure to comply with a contract (breach). The paper also examines how contract content (transactional versus relational) impacts the breach/violation link.
